30 days until Java! I have run 20's the last 3-4 weekends in a row, and one had 10 more 2 days later. The off weekend was 14 and 3 days a week running in the middle of 4-7. That followed by coaching soccer and being involved, running laps with team and playing pick up games with them. At a minimum its walking for 2 hours on top of the run. Yesterday was 7, today 7 again but slower at lunch.Yesterday I didn't even fatigue and felt good at 9:30s. Today was not good and knee hurts but I still did the 7 just slow and walked the last mile.
I will shoot for 25 Saturday as my final really long run. In 2 weeks I start my off weeks as I start to tapper. Better to be really rested and not injured any further than 1 more long training run. The first will be Oct 7th 18 miles in the mtns as I crew Brian at Cuyamaca 100k. After that its all down hill.
Sat Sept 29th - 25 miles (this weekend!)
Sat Oct 6th - 18 miles Mtns (crewing Brian)
Sat Oct 13th - 12-15 miles.
Sat Oct 20th - 7-10 miles.
Sat Oct 27th - 100 Miles - race day.
After years of working my way up the ultra distance ladder I was able to run in & complete my first 100 miler at Javelina in Oct 2017. Not knowing the Western States 100 entry rules I missed the cutoff for the 2018 lottery. Going into 2018 I had built a strong base & added races with hills to start toward my goal of qualifying. Unfortunately, April 1st, I tore my PCL and meniscus requiring surgery. I created this site to track my progress and getting back From zero to 100 miles.
